The owners rang us about a leak in the hallway. What they actually had was a decramastic roof at the end of its life, and a patch repair would have been money down the drain.
Decramastic tile roofs from this era typically give you around fifty years. This one was at the end of it. The stone chip had washed off across most of the north face, the steel underneath was rusting through in several places, and the hallway leak turned out to be one of four once we got up there. A repair would have held for a season at best.
We stripped the old tiles and battens back to the framing, replaced the damaged purlins, then installed new COLORSTEEL long-run. New flashings, spouting and downpipes throughout. Everything went into a bin on site so the driveway was clear at the end of each day.
A watertight roof finished in four working days, with the manufacturer warranty behind it. No more buckets in the hallway, and nothing to think about for the next few decades.
