Decramastic Conversion

A decramastic roof is composed of pressed metal tiles typically made from aluminium and steel. Some tiles even had a sandy, grit-bonded texture (often containing asbestos) that mimicked the appearance of concrete tiles.

One significant drawback of decramastic roof tiles is their inability to undergo effective restoration. While theoretically possible to repaint, practical issues such as the fragility of the tiles make this an impractical solution. The delicate nature of decramastic tiles means they are easily damaged during any roof painting or repair efforts, rendering restoration largely unfeasible. This is one of the primary reasons why decramastic roofs are often replaced rather than restored or repainted.

Replacing a decramastic or metal roof tile with a new, insulated Colorsteel roof offers numerous advantages. Chief among these is eliminating the risk of leaks and displaced tiles. Additionally, a new insulated Colorsteel roof provides improved thermal and acoustic performance compared to a decramastic roof. Colorsteel roofing is also highly compatible with solar panel installations, which are typically not feasible with decramastic roofs.
